Elder Care

isn't easy.  I try my best but I miss having some time for myself and hate having guilt when I manage to get some time with my husband.  Just getting an afternoon (last Saturday) with my husband felt incredible.  I've regained the appreciation for the *very* small pleasures in life such as grabbing a beer at a local microbrewery and a burrito for an early dinner or having the privacy to talk to my husband about anything.

I've always been one of those people who rides the fence post on whether I'm extroverted or introverted and took for granted my "time to myself" when I could re-charge mentally, physically, and creatively.  I no longer have that time and I find it hard.

I've got my demo day for the Craftsmen's Guild of Mississippi fast approaching so, I've got to get to work.  My demonstration will be interesting no matter what!  If you're in coastal MS on Friday, August 1st, please stop by the Biloxi Craft Center and say hi.  I'll be there all day during the open house to demonstrate several of the techniques that I use in my jewelry.

  1. Wish I could pop by Rue Magnolia--have fun with that! And sorry to hear there hasn't been much "quality time with yourself" (as G. would say) lately.... Try not to feel guilty when you manage to get a break.

    1. Everything went well and I got asked back for Christmas in the City on December 6th. I can't do markets that require me to be away overnight but this market is perfect.

      I'll email soon!

  2. it's always hard to carve out time for ourselves, whether we are caring for our parents or our children. but we are no good to anyone if we don't. good luck with the show.

    1. I only wish that I could make a bit more time for me. That would be the best case scenario but I'm generally going it alone because my husband is out of town a lot of the time. Thanks so much for stopping by and wishing me good luck. I appreciate it!

    1. Thank you so much for the good luck wishes--they worked!

I wish you could have visited with me that day, too but that really would have been too far to drive for just that.

The guild is working on jewelry "standards" and I'm soliciting ideas from members and jewelry-making friends. Let me know if you've got any ideas. Thanks!
